The University of Cape Town (UCT) Faculty of Humanities is one of the largest and most vibrant faculties at UCT, comprising 19 academic departments organised into three main clusters—the Arts, the Social Sciences, and the Performing and Creative Arts—with a focus on understanding the human condition in all its dimensions. The faculty, formed through a merger of several disciplines in 1999, enrolls over 7 000 students, the majority at undergraduate level, and is known for interdisciplinary research and teaching excellence, hosting multiple research chairs and internationally recognised scholars.
