The Faculty of Veterinary Science at University of Pretoria (UP) is the only veterinary faculty in South Africa and a leading centre of excellence in veterinary education, research, and clinical training on the African continent. Based at the Onderstepoort campus, the faculty offers internationally accredited programmes that prepare students for careers in veterinary medicine, animal health, and related biomedical sciences. It is renowned for its strong emphasis on practical, hands-on training through its teaching hospital and fieldwork, as well as its contributions to animal health research, disease control, and food security. The faculty plays a critical role in advancing One Health approaches by integrating animal, human, and environmental health, while producing highly skilled veterinarians who serve both local and global communities.
