The Afrikaans Protestant Academy, the APA, is a private tertiary institution that was founded in the late eighties as a school for theological training. From there, the APA developed into a fully-fledged independent university specializing in the humanities. With the framework of a Christian outlook, the APA wants to guide students to critically explore and argue ideas. The humanities develop and promote critical and analytical thinking par excellence and this leads to opinion-forming professions such as: psychologists, journalists, teachers and ministers.
