Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC) is a public institution regulated by the Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges Act, No. 16 of 2006. It was established in terms of the Further Education and Training Act, No. 98 of 1998, and was declared a public FET college by the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in Gauteng Province through the Provincial Gazette Extraordinary, dated 7 December 2001.
Ekurhuleni West TVET College is situated in Gauteng Province, South Africa. The College serves a broad and diverse community and comprises six campuses: Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Kathorus (serving Katlehong, Vosloorus and Thokoza), Kempton (located in Kempton Park), and Tembisa.
The name "Ekurhuleni" is derived from the geographical and municipal areas served by the College. These include the Southern Service Delivery Region (SDR), comprising Germiston (the regional centre), Alberton, Boksburg, Katlehong, Thokoza, Vosloorus, and parts of Freeway Park, as well as the Northern Service Delivery Region (NDR), comprising Kempton Park (the regional centre), Tembisa, Edenvale, Bedfordview, and Primrose.
